Roy Boardman first qualified as a teacher in the UK. After four years of teaching, he was made Head of the English Department. He has taught at the University of Bari, the Università degli Studi di Napoli Orientale, and at the British Council Naples. From 1975 to 1980 he worked as British Council English Language Office South Italy and from 1980 to 1995, Regional Director South Italy.
Roy has lectured and run conferences on language teaching and teacher training in Italy, France, Greece, the UK and Chicago.
During his long career, he has played a major role in introducing qualifications for teachers of English such as the RSA Cert Tefl. In the early 1980s, he organised the first distance training course for Italian teachers of English. With Cambridge University Press he published Over to You (1979), a coursebook which put into practice the principles of Communicative Language Teaching, and with co-authors, Reading Between the Lines (1984) and Variety (1985). His coursebooks for teenage learners, Springboard (OUP 1983, 1984, 1985, have been used in many European countries.
For his work in cultural relations Roy has been awarded the Premio Calabria, the Premio Internazionale Sabatier-Ter, and the Premio Internazionale Cosimo Fanzago. In 1989 Roy received an MBE (Member of the British Empire) from Queen Elizabeth II for his work with The British Council.
He is now the President of the Boardman English Association and the Director of British English Worldwide

JohnDouche qualified in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) in 2014. John has taught in a variety of schools and establishments and in recent years has applied his technical skills to teaching, rising to the challenges presented by the increasing need for online learning.
He became a certified NLP Practitioner (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) in 2008 while working with the NHS as a Web Systems Manager. He is a firm believer in the effectiveness of NLP within a teaching environment and strives constantly to identify, develop, and implement new and innovative ways of teaching English.
John highlights the ‘learning experience’ within a teaching environment by focussing on teacher/student rapport as an essential part of that experience. This is especially relevant with the advent of increased demand for online learning.
He moved to Naples in 2016 and has prepared students in a variety of schools in the city for Cambridge and Trinity exams. He has taught a wide range of students from Beginners to Advanced across a broad range of ages.
His experiences learning Italian provide him with a valuable perspective on the language learning process. By also being a language student, he understands fully the problems faced by language learners and the challenges that they encounter during their studies.
John possesses a rare combination of skills that are uniquely suited to the technological challenges now emerging from the worldwide need for online tuition.
